Bryan Wermers, MSN, RN, CPNP-PC, CPN
Assistant Professor, Nursing
Bryan Wermers is a Sioux Falls native who graduated from South Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2000, Seton Hall University with a Master of Science in Nursing as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in 2009, and the University of Missouri with a graduate certificate in Positive Psychology in 2021. He is certified as a pediatric nurse and a pediatric nurse practitioner. He has worked as a nurse in general pediatrics, pediatric intensive care, travel nursing in Minnesota and New Mexico, and pediatric transport. As a nurse practitioner, he has worked with a pediatric hospitalist department, a pediatric surgery department, and a child advocacy center.
He is currently an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the University of Sioux Falls, where he teaches a variety of courses, including Pediatric Nursing; Medical/Surgical Nursing; Management, Leadership and Professional Issues; Cultural, Spiritual, and Ethical Nursing; Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals; and Nursing Capstone. His prior teaching experiences include being an informal preceptor, leading advanced life support classes, a clinical instructor for the University of South Dakota School of Medicine, and a clinical instructor for the University of Sioux Falls Department of Nursing.
Currently, he is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society of Nursing, and the South Dakota Nurses Association.
He loves spending time with his wife, Lisa, his daughters, Emerson and Alexa, and their dogs, Tenley and Poppy. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, camping, hiking, and listening to a variety of music.
