Brian Lowery, M.S.
Assistant Professor, Biology
Brian Lowery graduated from the University of Sioux Falls in 2002 with a B.S. in Biology. While attending USF, he competed in cross country and track and field. After graduating, he spent 10 and a half years teaching high school science in Lyman County, Aberdeen Central and Tea Area, all in South Dakota. He also coached cross country and track and field. Lowery began his teaching tenure at USF in 2012. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Biology from the University of South Dakota, focusing his research in conservation genetics. He lives in Tea, S.D., with his wife, Jennifer, and three children: Daschle, Dawson, and Anniston.

Research
Lowery's research interest is in the area of Conservation Genetics. He currently works with rare plant species from the Channel Islands off the coast of California as a part of his dissertation research at the University of South Dakota.

Community
Brian enjoys volunteering as a coach for his children's sports teams.
Church
Brian is an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Tea, S.D. Brian has served on the Board of Education, a member of the Church Council, and confirmation mentor.
