As the University of Sioux Falls school year comes to a close, graduates in the business, education and nursing programs take a moment to acknowledge the hard work poured into their education, celebrate growth and anticipate the next step of applying their knowledge tangibly in their fields.

On Friday, the Johnson Graduate Leadership Forum will celebrate professional studies graduates and send them out with a night that recognizes their accomplishments. The forum will include presentations from the 11 MBA students who will be the first to graduate from the 12-month MBA program. Additionally, there will be a reception with appetizers and a faith-based motivational message from keynote speaker Julie Clark Lingen.

The forum will take place from 4–7 p.m. in the Salsbury Science Center’s Z-Hall. The public is invited to attend. Learn more about USF’s MBA programs HERE

Saturday will mark the celebration of graduating undergraduate education majors with an Education Commissioning Service. The graduates will celebrate with their families and faculty with an official pinning ceremony. The ceremony is a time-honored tradition marking the occasion of being welcomed into the honorable profession of education. The pin symbolizes the university’s core value of faith and serves as a reminder for each graduate to spread Christ’s light and love throughout the world. The ceremony will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 19 in the Salsbury Science Center’s Z-Hall. Learn more about USF’s Education major HERE

Also taking place on Saturday is the School of Nursing Pinning Ceremony. Graduates will be recognized for their accomplishments and welcomed into the profession of nursing. The tradition of the ceremonial pinning originated in the 1860s at the Nightingale School of Nursing at St. Thomas Hospital in London. Having been recently awarded The Red Cross of St. George for her selfless service to the injured and dying in the Crimean War, Florence Nightingale chose to extend this honor to her most outstanding graduate nurses by presenting each of them with a medal for excellence. The ceremony will be at 10 a.m. in Jeschke’s Meredith Auditorium. Learn more about USF’s nursing major HERE.
