Through her summer internship with ‘Hood Magazine, Business Administration major Laura Kunz ’17 gained real-world experience by building relationships with clients, creating contract proposals, leading presentations, attending a marketing conference, assisting with magazine revisions and organizing an event for the magazine.

“I helped research, plan and run a big one-day event,” said Kunz. “I was also given the opportunity to create a tagline that the company has chosen to incorporate for future purposes.”

According to Kunz, one of the most rewarding parts of the internship was the responsibility given to her to accomplish important tasks.

“The best thing about this opportunity has been the great autonomy and trust I was given for projects,” said Kunz. “This gave me experience in business that cannot be gained in the classroom.”

In addition, the experience gave Kunz a better understanding of what aspects of the business world she enjoys most. Pairing this real-world experience with the education she is receiving from USF’s School of Business, Kunz feels prepared for a successful career in business after graduation.

“USF’s School of Business is absolutely phenomenal,” said Kunz. “I have always been impressed with all of the professors and the background experience they bring to the classroom. I feel confident in the well-rounded base I have gained at USF.”
