University of Sioux Falls MBA Marketing class hosted Stensland Family Farm to class on Wednesday, February 7th.    Members of the Stensland family and their Marketing team provided MBA students with a detailed presentation about the family business history.  The Stensland’s showed the class how they have transitioned from a regular dairy farm into a regional dairy producer, distributer and retailer of premium ice cream, milk and cheeses.  The Stensland’s detailed the decisions made to become a 100% vertically integrated and highly automated business.

In addition to describing their organic farming and production methods, the Stensland team held focus group.  The class was given the opportunity to taste-test a new cheese curd flavor and provide feedback to determine if the flavor should be brought to market.   The Stenland’s reviewed their marketing strategies and asked students for input and feedback about their marketing plans.

The evening ended with a question and answer session and everyone left with samples of their premium products.

The University of Sioux Falls MBA is an applied program, where faculty have decades of experience and are industry experts.  The MBA program partners with area businesses to review real world practices and link them to the classroom.
