A new survey shows 98 percent of University of Sioux Falls graduates from the Class of 2016 were either employed or attending graduate or professional school within 6 months of graduation. In addition, students reported 100% placement rates for in over three-fourths of its majors.

“Our graduates consistently experience success as they launch their careers,” said USF President Brett Bradfield. “Our multifaceted curriculum combined with dedicated faculty and staff keep a Christian mission, academic excellence and service leadership at the center of the USF experience. This empowers our graduates to do more and be more as they graduate and pursue their dreams.”

USF Career Services partners with faculty and alumni to help students locate positions, write resumes, prepare for interviews and apply to graduate school.

According to Nicole Dulaney, Director of the Academic Success Center, USF students and employers enter into a collaboration that’s mutually beneficial. Students can engage in a variety of professional growth opportunities through internships and volunteer experiences, while employers are eager to recruit students by visiting campus, attending job fairs and posting positions through Cougar Careers, USF’s online job database.

Other highlights of the new report include 80 percent of 2016 grads started their careers in South Dakota and 89 percent of 2016 grads who found employment in South Dakota lived in Sioux Falls.

“Sioux Falls is consistently ranked by Forbes as one of the best cities for jobs and as one of the best small towns for businesses and careers,” Dulaney said. “This is evident in our students’ ability to locate and secure jobs locally, and also in their ability to create and grow small businesses as future entrepreneurs.”

Each year Career Services staff surveys the USF graduating class to assess their post-graduation activities. The methodology of this survey aligns with best practices that are outlined by the National Association of Colleges and Employers.
