Weather Announcement 1-1-23
IMPORTANT WEATHER ANNOUNCEMENT For Tuesday, January 3, 2023, for Students and Personnel.
Due to the incoming winter storm and concerning poor driving conditions for our students and employees, the University is announcing changes to on-ground interim classes and USF employees' return to work date.
Before coming to the USF campus, please read the information below carefully, as USF has made adjustments to the start of the interim term to encourage students and employees to remain in a safe location.
Students:
All classes start online Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
On-ground/in-person class(es): On-ground/in-person classes will NOT meet on-ground until Thursday, January 5, but students must check class LMS and email for assignments or further communication from your professor for these courses.
Online classes (undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral) will begin and be held as scheduled. The weather does not impact these classes.
Should you have specific class questions, please contact the professor of your specific class.
Resident Halls will re-open as scheduled for all students scheduled to live on-campus.
Food Service will re-open Tuesday, January 3, as regularly scheduled.
Faculty:
Joe Obermueller, VP for Academic Affairs, will email faculty about your classes and activities. Please watch for an important email from VP Obermueller.
Staff:
USF Staff (excluding Campus Safety & Security and USF Facilities) are to prepare to report to campus on Wednesday, January 4 (not Tuesday as scheduled); however, depending on the impending storm, there may be further adjustments or a delayed Wednesday start.
Please remain off campus, work remotely if you can, and allow USF Facilities to clear lots and walks.
Should you have questions, contact Julie Gednalske at 605-376-2150 or Julie.Gednalske@usiouxfalls.edu or Marlene Quittem at Marlene.Quittem@usiouxfalls.edu. You may also contact your area VP or athletic director.
All in-season student-athletes should connect with their coach for specific practice/game information. If you cannot reach your coach, please contact Pam Gohl, USF Athletic Director, at Pam.Gohl@usiouxfalls.edu.
Please note: Clearing of sidewalks and parking lots will be worked on throughout the winter storm, but typically most snow removal will occur AFTER the storm has stopped. Your help in remaining off campus, if you don’t live on campus or are not required to be there will help USF clear lots, building entries, and sidewalks. We appreciate your help.
USF Campus Safety and Security is on campus to assist you 24/7/365 at 605-321-6400. Facilities Services (Maintenance, Grounds & Custodial) will also work on campus as the storm progresses. Our deep appreciation to USF Campus Safety and Security Officers and our Facilities Services National Staff for their continued hard work and diligence in keeping USF safe during these ongoing weather challenges.
The University encourages you to take precautions to be safe during this challenging winter weather. In addition, please continue to watch your USF email for further correspondence as the snowstorm moves through our area.
Check your campus email for more weather-related communications.
